The Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County is a shining light in our hometown, providing education, support and hope for people affected by Alzheimer's. Genesis was amongst many local businesses who participated in an awareness event called "A Month of Memories: Blue Jean Fridays". Throughout the month of November, Genesis staffers (35 pictured out of 41 total) could be spotted around town sporting Alzheimer's Alliance t-shirts. Genesis was recognized as the company with the largest percentage of employees in participation. Since we already wear jeans on Fridays, it wasn't much of a stretch for us. As always, we are glad to do our small part.

20 years ago, Genesis doubled in size when Phil Burks hired his first employee, a brilliant young developer named Greg Hendry. This week, Genesis recognized Greg for his outstanding service. Also, Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass officially proclaimed November 16th as "Greg Hendry Day". To help show our appreciation to him and his family, we're sending Greg and his wife on a vacation to a destination of their choosing. In his own words, "There's no better environment for a developer to grow creatively than Genesis." We appreciate him for setting the bar impossibly high for the rest of us.
We've never been busier at Genesis. As the industry rapidly evolves, we continue to burn the candle at both ends to stay on the forefront of emerging technology. Take a look behind the curtain and watch some of our world class people in action!

GenWatch3 v.2.4.0 and GW3-TRBO v.2.4.0 are the latest updates to our performance management software. As always, we listened to customer issues and made improvements. Our development team and GenLabs testers work hard to make Genesis software the very best it can be.
Our release committee, comprised of all GenWatch3 stakeholders met to review and approve all features in 3.2.4. This is always a detailed meeting with lively participation.

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to our expanding Genesis family, Karin Smith. With over 25 years experience in the accounting field, she is very comfortable crunching numbers. A longtime Houstonian, Karin and her husband made Tyler (home of The Genesis Group) their home in 2008. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteer work, scrapbooking, camping, and spending time with loved ones.
This week, our UK partners, Mike Head and David Henderson-Begg are visiting from London. Our EMEA Operations plays a vital role in our rapidly expanding global market, and Mike and David are at the heart of our success in that region.
Prior to Genesis, Michael completed a semester long IT internship with the Texas Spine & Joint Hospital in 2008. After graduating with a BS in Computer Information Systems in 2009, Michael worked as a service technician in the Whitehouse ISD Technology Department. We now proudly claim him as yet another oustanding member of the GenLabs team.
The men and women in uniform do much for us, and we truly cannot thank them enough. As a company that has been blessed, we had the opportunity to share some of our blessings with the 136th MP Battalion. Today, they blessed us with a magnificent certificate and American flag which flew in our honor over the Tyler Armed Forces Reserve. We appreciate and thank the people who make (and have made) America the Land of the Free.
Genesis is proud to welcome Anthony Grooms to the GenWatch3 development team. Upon earning a BS in Computer Science from UT Tyler, he was an application developer for The Trane Corporation for 13 years. We are happy to have a man with his qualifications on our side.
No surprise, APCO 2011 in Philadelphia a was well-attended and a successful conference. Many thanks to our valuable customers, colleagues and friends for making it well worth the trip. Looking ahead to 2012 in Minneapolis, Genesis will have even more new innovations to share with you! As the industry and technology evolves, we will have exciting new ways to better monitor, manage and report on your two-way communication system data. Make plans now, and we'll see you in the City of Lakes next year!
In what has beecome a popular annual community tradition (so many bee puns, so litle space to write), Genesis was honored to participate in the 2011 Tyler Literacy Council Corporate Spelling Bee. This year, we paid tribute to our wonderful clients and were known as the GeWoCs (Genesis World Customers). Our team effort produced a respectable third place title...again (see last year). The fundraising event helped advance the good work done by the LCOT.
Genesis is getting our gamefaces on for this year's APCO Conference and Expo in Philadelphia. We are honored once again to provide the official Volunteer and Conference Committee shirts. When you arrive at APCO, be on the lookout for people wearing them. Just for fun, we had a few extra laying around the office, so we had a drawing to give them away. Congrats to "Big Mike" Johnson, John "Out in Left Field" Williams, "Dizzy" Doyle Johnson, Marka "Scoops" Cochran, Becky "Pee Wee" Poe and James "Ol' Hoss" Wansley. Special thanks to our shirt co-sponsor, RadioIP.

Before becoming a code ninja, Greg earned a decent living in the least likely vocation: Water Meter Reader. He now joins the ranks of Genesis developers with a freshly printed Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from The University of Texas at Tyler. A self-proclaimed music and movie nerd, Greg tries to spend time away from a computer when he can. Tennis, soccer, hiking, skiing and snowboarding are amongst his favorite non-meter-reading outdoor activities. We are fortunate to have Greg with us.
Genesis earned a Better Business Bureau Gold Star Award for our outstanding record of no customer complaints over a three-year reporting period ending June 30, 2011.
In its continuing efforts to forge partnerships, Genesis has completed an in-depth "Train the Trainer" course of study for HICAPS, Inc. HICAPS' Program Management and RF Engineering project team has planned and implemented over 100 rebanding projects. Through that process, HICAPS has experience with the installation and setup of GenWatch3 which, in partnership with Motorola, replaces Motorola's SystemWatch, SIMSII, SIP and SiteLens products.
The Genesis Group welcomes Lena Bowen to our GenLabs Testing Team. Lena comes to us from a long background of software and hardware testing at large companies in the Dallas Metroplex and out of state. She has a dual degree in Business Management and Information Systems and served in the U. S. Navy. We appreciate Lena's thorough testing and dependable results and look forward to working with her in GenLabs.
Bell Mobility Radio, a division of Bell, Canada and The Genesis Group have a well-established working relationship. When Bell approached Genesis to consider creating a web-based GOS reporting solution, Genesis was ready to step up to the task. No such application had previously existed, so there was no framework or architecture from which to borrow or start. The end result of this collaborative effort produced GenWatch3 iVista.

BAPCO is the must-attend event for all professionals engaged in communications and information management technologies for public safety and business. Genesis was well-represented with Mike Head, Director of EMEA Operations and David Henderson-Begg, along with Genesis President Phil Burks. Many thanks to all who visited the Genesis stand. Cheers!
For a few years now, Genesis has offered mentoring for the UT Tyler Department of Computer Science Capstone Project. In Capstone, students have the opportunity to integrate their knowledge of the curriculum by implementing a significant software system as part of a programming team. This time around, the customer is...us! A Capstone group is in the process of creating a utility Genesis will use to maintain one of our products.
Genesis pulls awesome talent from Capstone groups and The University of Texas at Tyler as a whole. Offering up project ideas and mentoring time and energy is another way in which Genesis gives back to the university and community.
Genesis is completing its shipment of Riverboards and Sidecars to Motorola for Riverside County California. Genesis worked for many months with Motorola and the end customer to craft a unique enhancement for Motorola's MCC7500 dispatch console called the Genesis Aided Dispatch Interface. This included not only software features that enhance the MCC7500, but also hardware to make the dispatcher’s job easier. In addition, ergonomic enhancements were made to the Riverboard and Sidecar, allowing more flexibility for the user.

GW3-TRBO is certified, sold and supported by Motorola.
The Genesis Group decided to get together and go for a walk along our adopted stretch of roadway in our hometown of Tyler, Texas. By strange coincidence, we all wore matching—not to mention rather stylish—orange vests and were carrying trash bags. We made the best of it and pitched in to make our city more pretty.
