LoneWorker

He's out there all alone. His life could be in danger. And if you don't hear from him — Is he hurt, missing...or worse?

Enter Genesis LoneWorker.

LoneWorker is a powerful add-on module to our popular SmartNet® and SmartZone® network management suite, GenWatch3®. LoneWorker is a personnel working alone management solution for trunked radio systems.

LoneWorker tracks employees throughout their shift by ensuring each worker checks in, within a certain amount of time. If your worker does not, LoneWorker reminds him to check in. If there is still no response, alarms sound. There are many customization features to add further flexibility and levels of escalation to this tool.

With LoneWorker, your workers are never alone.

How LoneWorker Works

click for larger imageThe main form displays PTT (Push-To-Talk) events for the radio system being monitored. PTTs can be filtered to show only active workers in LoneWorker. The call list will assist the system operator in calling up worker profiles. When a worker wishes to be set to working alone, he/she should use their radio to request the system operator's assistance. The system operator, in turn, confirms the worker's supervisor or employee ID. On the worker profile screen, all information about a worker — including their assigned supervisor and whether or not the worker is alone — can be viewed and edited.

The system maintains a work timer and a late timer for each worker. Once a worker is entered into the system and set to working alone, his/her work timer will be started. Depending upon how the system is configured, the worker may be paged before his timer expires, to remind the worker to check in. If a worker's work-timer expires, the following will happen:

  • The worker's status will be changed from working to late
  • A late alarm will be generated and listed on the alarm form
  • LoneWorker will send a page 'from' the worker to his supervisor
    • If the worker has no supervisor, the system operator will receive the page instead.
  • An audible and visual alarm indicator will alert the system operator

If a worker's late-timer expires, a similar series of events will take place with an emergency alarm. There is no timer for the emergency status. However, a worker must have their timer reset or be deactivated and re-activated to leave emergency status. Work timers will be reset automatically when a worker checks in by creating a PTT event, but the system operator may also reset them manually.
