Introduction
The Genesis Group has been authorized by Motorola to provide a re-programming service for the older T5004 Motorola Analog Privacy Plus Trunking Central Controllers. Motorola is no longer directly supporting the programming of this hardware and thus Genesis has taken on this task. There ARE restrictions to what we can do. The items requested on this form are the ONLY things we can change in the code plugs for your Central Controller.
History
The MC6800 microprocessor was in the first model controller in 1978 when Privacy Plus systems were first introduced. These supported Type I Trunking only. The 6800 number refers to the main processor.
The first to use the 6809 controller was SMARTNET I and was first shipped in 1985. This system met APCO-16 standards and was Type I only.
A new MC6809 controller was introduced in 1987 with Privacy Plus Enhanced systems. These systems were also Type I only and APCO-16 compliant. This controller also supported larger Type I size codes.
6809 controllers were used through SMARTNET II, II+, etc. on up to SMARTNET ASTRO 3.0, and this included the introduction of Type II systems.
Starting with SMARTNET ASTRO 3.1, the MTC3600 controller is used and continued until ASTRO SMARTZONE release 4.1, when the MZC3000 Zone Controller became the standard. The MTC and MZC controllers are based on Motorola's VME computer platform.
Much of our effort has been accomplished with the aid of very old Motorola documentation and good old brute force. The main character that has done all of the labor is Clarence Neufeld. Clarence has been working in Motorola Trunking since 1979. The 400+ hours of his work in this effort have proven to not be an exact science! We have made every effort to be sure that all locations on all of the EPROMS are properly updated, but we all must understand that not all central controllers were created equally. There are some minor vintage differences. Each set is 'hot tested' before sent to be sure it boots up properly and has basic functionality. There is the possibility that the central controller that you will put the software into may be slightly different and may require minor changes the the firmware that we send to you.
More Details
Here are some other points to be aware of:
- Must Be Privacy Plus
- Must be 6809 CSC boards (early editions from apx. 1983)
- In some cases, all 7 chips will be replaced
- Chips that will be replaced are: U57, U58, U59, U60, U46, U47, U48
Note: There is the slim chance that your chip numbers could be different. If so, contact Genesis for confirmation.
- SAC will be enabled on all firmware sent
- Size Codes A, B, C, D are the only valid size codes in this vintage central controller
- Genesis is not responsible for any lost revenue due to programming errors, installation errors, shipment damage, etc.
- If a set of software does not operate properly, Genesis will make every effort to work with you to make it function.
- Proper CMOS handling techniques must be observed for EPROM installation.
