"The Minnesota Metro area currently has a Motorola Astro 6.8 radio system that consists of 2 zones and 19 sites and will be expanding by 2 additional zones of which Genesis package will be added. From the beginning it was clear that the Motorola system has limited statistical and reporting capabilities. To generate complicated reports it was either not possible, or required a programmer to manually manipulate data that was available. With Genesis, we are now able to create complicated multi-variable reports that tells us how efficient we are operating and this can be done with just a few keystrokes. This Genesis package is a powerful reporting tool and something that will be using often, and I think it will quickly become our primary source for system statistical and activity reports."
"In addition, I wanted to mention how professional and courteous your company's technician Ray Listenbee is. Ray spent 3 days out here in Minnesota for installation and training, and he helped with Network and installation problems that went into the late hours. He is also continuing to provide us technical and training support with patience and diligence."

"I wanted to express my thanks for the training that Genesis provided to our local System Technologist and System Engineering staff in Richmond, VA. We have been using the GenSZAI NetVista and SkyView applications for the past year and a half, so the training was extremely beneficial. The GenSZAI reports have been and continue to be used extensively in a detailed 5 x 9’s report required by our customer, but its biggest contribution has been supporting troubleshooting efforts. The volume of information available to the GenSZAI platform and the ease of extracting it have been invaluable. The training we received really helped everyone take their knowledge to a higher level. The instructor, Ray Listenbee, was extremely helpful to offer differing methods of analyzing data with separate reports. Ray was also very receptive to feedback on modifications to some existing reports and even addressed some of our suggestions while he was on site."
"Thank you for supporting our unusual training requirements on the State of Virginia project and more importantly thanks for your continued commitment to great customer service."

"[SkyView] looks fantastic. I have it sitting right next to a system watch and can see the information update very quickly as system watch advises me. I've had numerous customers and managers come by and they agree that I should put it up on a big screen so everyone can see a 'real' system in operation...and it's LIVE! Thanks for the quick response and updates!"

"GenSZAI/NetVista is a very functional tool that allows for desktop monitoring, query, and report generation of SmartZone System statistics that is second to none. We use it daily to do things such as:
- document the activity on the County's Interoperability Talk-Groups
- document illegal affiliations to the system
- monitor and review the system's capacity using the EARLANG report generator
- use it as a troubleshooting tool by the in-house technicians for subscriber affiliation/access issues
- generate user ID and talk-group history records when requested by any end-user department or agency
- and last but not least...it looks so cool on the second flatscreen PC monitor!"

"We have used it in many ways besides the normal usage reports. It has been helpful in tracking stolen radio's. I would regroup the radio to a TG named Lost and then watch for the radio to affiliate. We could see if a person had it, and verify times it was on and what channel the radio was switched to. The radio was left live so we could document its use via the Genesis reports, Via Radio ID."
"This was turned over to the investigators with some help from the ATF the individual was located and arrested."
"Other times it has been used to solve problems with the radio system. For example a problem with a DIU and/or channel interference, etc. could be verified by running a report to see what channel and DIU a bad transmission was reported. By typing in the exact time on the report the transmission was made. Using the complainants radio ID."
"There have been instances when a officer used the excuse the 'radio didn't work' a reason he/she didn't respond to a call. A report was ran on this individuals ID and it was discovered the radio was not ON! Or on the wrong TG. Needless to say we no longer get false reports anymore once they learned we could verify and trace every move of the radios."
"I also used on reported lost radios to verify there hasn't been any activity with a reported lost radio. Some times it's really lost. Other times it was found in the wrong hands."

"To date we have started to provide monthly reports to our largest clients including the Sheriff Office, Fire Rescue, Convention Center, School Board, Lynx Bus service, Utilities, Corrections, etc. illustrating monthly Talk Group utilization. This is important to us to insure the various talk groups are 'balanced' and helps identify any subscribers we may need to redirect to another talk group or plan for new talk groups. Recently, the Corrections staff opened a new 300,000 sq. ft office building and we quickly learned the talk group associated with these subscribers was overwhelmed and needed to be redistributed to other groups. We are actively using the 'Emergency Alert Log' report to identify talk groups that are incorrectly using this feature. This helps us better train them on the proper alert function. We have also been running numerous PTT reports for various sites to determine site utilization to assist us with planning for better optimization."

"Entergy is currently operating an 800 MHz, 6 Zone, SmartZone two-way radio system with approximately 10,000 radios in use. The Genesis GenSZAI software is implemented among our six different zones in four states and we find it to be more than effective in presenting all of the traffic analysis data traversing our network. The staff of Genesis has been more than patient and helpful in tailoring the needs of Entergy, which allows us to better serve our customers. We are in turn thankful and pleased that we have the opportunity to work with the Genesis family and would recommend the services of Genesis to anyone considering the use of any service they provide."

"The Genesis system is our primary resource for managing the SmartZone system. We use it to manage air time / usage, field equipment [radios], and support maintenance. Some of the uses:
- Provide monthly reports that identify system usage by city and agency/department. This supports budgets, etc., including our salaries.
- Identifying radios [users] that create erroneous emergency alerts so that they may be [re-]trained.
- Tracking down lost or misplaced field radios based on usage signature, including talkgroup and [shift] time.
- Tracking down user / system problems, including radio coverage, co-channel interference, and intermodulation / bleedover / crosstalk problems.
- We are required to analyze each customer complaint; the Genesis system is instrumental in the analysis.
- We have created specialized queries that enable us to quickly identify problems due to co-channel interference or 3rd order intermodulation.
- We would be unable to analyze, identify, and correct equipment and system problems without Genesis.
I have touched lightly on the usage / air time applications as these are common [and critical] to most systems. We produce both standard and custom reports that are distributed to our management and the management of constituent agencies. Among other things, the data is used to allocate cost among the constituent agencies. The data also permits the agencies to manage their users / air time. System loading traffic data is also available to ensure that the system capacity is adequate to support users. The traffic data is used to plan future system upgrades and expansion.
Due to the complexity of our system, we periodically experience a crosstalk / interference problem where one law agency hears another law agency call on their encrypted talkgroup. This is a major problem, particularly when one agency incorrectly overhears an emergency call from another agency's field unit. This problem has been labeled 'bleedover' in our system and is primarily the result of an unwanted transmission immediately following, or tailgating, the desired transmission. These problems are very difficult to identify and isolate in a large system as theyccan be caused by a number of factors, including co-channel frequency interference and 3rd order intermodulation.
All large systems experience co-channel, frequency re-use interference, due to the limited number of RF frequencies available. Systems must be designed and optimized to minimize this interference. The Genesis system is used to identify the interferer radio and victim site for this type of interference.
Sources of 3rd order intermodulation include receiver overload, tower top amplifier overload, distribution amplifier overload, bi-directional amplifier (BDA) overload, and passive intermodulation (PIM). We use custom queries to identify all [system] transmitters that are active during a 'bleedover' event and to calculate likely candidate interferer transmissions. We have been using Genesis successfully for the last four years to identify and correct these system problems.
Tracking down intermodulation and interference problems without Genesis is considered to be next to impossible!"
