GenWatch3 Reports — Options |
 |
|
 |
We have worked hard to make the reporting as simple and painless as possible. When you run a report, a lot of action happens behind the scenes to access the GW3 database, select the data that you are looking for, bring that data into the appropriate report, and then display the results to you in MS Excel. When you double-click a report from the GW_Reports Menu, several windows will display consecutively allowing you to determine what data will be reported by selecting specific parameters. On every report (except one) the first window will ask for the date and time period which the report should span. As with all of the selections in the reports section, you can select options by clicking, rather than typing in the date and time. |
Step One — Select Date Range
You may be requested to specify the report type as Hourly, Daily, or Summary. This option will determine if each line on the report holds data summarized by hour, day or the entire specified time period. |
 |
Step Two — Filter By Call Activity
For the Call Activity Report, you can choose to report only Dispatch calls, only Private calls, only Interconnect calls, or any combination. Within these specified combinations, you can select Emergency, Non-Emergency or both. Also, you can select Coded, Clear or Coded and Clear calls. |
 |
Step Three — Select Radio IDs
Subsequent windows will ask you to select the IDs of specific systems, zones, sites, locations, agencies, talkgroups, radios, and frequencies, as required by different reports. All of these selections will offer a "Select All" box as well as check boxes for individual data options. |
 |
Step Four — Get Summary
After you complete all of your selections for a report, a summary screen will display them and allow the option of canceling or running the report. |

Genesis has become known over the years for our reports. We have taken the approach that it is YOUR data and you have every right to have total access to it. But that begs the question: What good is all of that data that is captured if you can't make sense out of it? As your Control Channel Data is decoded, we do two basic things with it:
- We display it on the screen and allow you, on the screen, to do things with that information. We'll call this LIVE data.
- We capture every bit of the Control channel traffic, parse it (break it apart) and store it in SQL tables inside a database file.
- HO (Host) bundle customers: Microsoft SQL 2005 for Workgroups.
- CL (Client) bundles: data is called from the HO tables as they run their reports.
- LE (Limited Edition) bundles: the smaller SQL Express data engine, SQL Express is 100% compatible with SQL 2005, but it has limited storage capacity. This means that you will only be able to store about sixty days of data from the average system as compared to years of data on SQL 2005. Also, SQL Express cannot be networked. It must operate in a stand-alone mode.

System Usage
- How well do you know your trunking system's performance?
- Do you know:
- The percentage of channel time used?
- How much time per channel is unused?
- The number and length of calls your system handles?
- The average call length?
- Would you like to be able to:
- Track system call counts and times by the hour?
- See at a glance when your Busy Hour is during any time period?
- View channel use time in seconds?
- Compare channel usage throughout the system?
- Identify times with the most Busy calls?
- The System Usage Report allows you to see all of this information in four charts on one screen.
|
 |
Activities by Talkgroup Over Time
- Great for weekly or monthly reporting.
- Find out which talkgroup has the most time used, the longest call time, and the longest busy time.
- See how many rejects a group has.
- Summarize data by the hour, the day or by any specified time period.
|
 |
Activities Over Time
- Compare call metrics across systems.
- See call activity summarized by system and providing the number and length of:
- Group calls
- Private calls
- Phone calls
- Busy calls are separated by type.
- Summarize data by the hour, the day or by any specified time period.
|
 |
Call Activity
- See detailed call activity broken down by Radio ID.
- When calls occurred
- Which group or individual radio each call targeted
- Total elapsed time each radio was active
|
 |
Channel Activities
- Determine if a channel is over - or under-utilized by getting detailed call activity statistics for each channel summarized by hour, by day or by entire time period.
- Statistics include:
- Number and duration of each call type
- Percentage of the total available time that a channel was used
- Any channel malfunctions that were recorded
|
 |
Channel Usage
- Know in a glance how each channel's time used compares with its available time and with other channels' time used.
- Compare the time used by each frequency with the total from all of the frequencies giving an overview of channel use in the entire system.
|
 |
Group PTT
- Determine which groups had the most PTTs or the most PTT seconds in any time period by viewing the charts.
- Know when the busiest time is for emergency PTTs by hour or day of the week.
|
 |
Group Emergency PTT
- Check for patterns and trends in Emergency activity -- use this to assist with scheduling and budgeting for the future.
- Document which groups had the most emergency calls.
- Track the hours of the day and the day of the week when emergency activity is heaviest and lightest for each group and overall.
|
 |
Interconnect Usage
- Track elapsed time for interconnect calls for selected frequencies and radios.
|
 |
Radio Activity
- Track commands sent to radios and events received from radios for any radio / talkgroup combinations.
- Determine if all commands were acknowledged.
|
 |
Radio Commands
- View a command's timeline from origination through purge.
- Track commands issued by specific users through GW_RCM and GW_Halcyon CAD to specific Radio IDs.
- Choose to track some or all command types.
|
 |
Radio Events
- Select events received from specific radios to track or track all events from all radios.
- Events include:
- Change Me requests
- Emergency Alarms
- Messages
- Status
|
 |
Radio PTT
- Identify which radios have the most activity and when the heaviest and lightest activity occurs.
- Viewing the graphs makes this even faster.
|
 |
Radio State
- Get information on the current state of all selected radios.
- The only report in the system without a date / time selection screen because it is run real time and provides current, up to the second data
- Information available:
- Has a radio been regrouped?
- What is a radio's current group?
- Has a radio been selectively inhibited?
- Is a radio in a 'selector locked' state?
- Which radios are currently in emergency state?
|
 |
Reject Reasons
- Track each rejected call for any time period.
- Watch for patterns that might indicate problems.
- Sort report by Radio ID to determine if one radio is constantly being denied site access.
|
 |
System Diagnostics
- Know the current condition of system hardware
- Track hardware failures.
- Log time required to get disabled device back online.
