Answer |
| |
|
| "Where would the GenSMART CMAF need to be installed in relation to the other GenSZAI components?" |
The CMAF is installed very near to the GzDPROC (the data proc). There needs to be fast communications between the CMAF and the GzDPROC. Also, this way, it is under the custody and control of the system owner. |

|
| "Does this system operate independently (e.g. a parallel connection to the ATIA port or reader) or will it involve any major modification to a customer's existing GenSZAI setup?" |
It runs in parallel, BUT…it is a major upgrade to Telstra's existing GenSZAI. The System Owner is currently on GenSZAI v5.x and GenSMART requires GenSZAI v 6.x. All modules will be upgraded; however it does not appear that the System Owner will need to upgrade any hardware. GZ v6 has been moved into .NET and thus is far more efficient in its CPU usage. GZ v6 also opens the architecture for several more enhancements that we have coming in 2005. |

|
| "Would we need to buy licenses for any other software (e.g. SQL server) apart from the operating system that the GenSMART components run on (presumably a MS Windows OS)?" |
The CMAF machine only needs Win OS (2000 or 2003). The Agency machines (HART) will need Win OS (2000 or 2003), SQL2005, and MS Office. |
| |
|
| "Is there a minimum recommended specification level for the system owner and agency hardware that we would need to source?" |
Yes. In general, think of the HART machines to be just like GxDSRV (GenSZAI Data Server) machines. That is, the machine where the Agency data will be stored and queried. The level of queries and the length of storage required will determine the RAM, the HD storage, and the requirement for redundancy (Main Secondary). |
| |
|
| "Would it require an outage to install it or could the current system go on capturing data at the same time?" |
We would migrate the SECONDARY side first, make sure it is 100% operating and stable, and then migrate the MAIN side. We would work with the System Owner to synchronize the tables. |
| |
|
| "Is this something that we as the System Owner can install and configure themselves or would it require a Genesis engineer to fly in and commission it?" |
Good question. LIKELY, since many of our customer's IT engineers have been very involved in GenSZAI, all work can be done by the customer while being monitored and assisted by Genesis. We’ll reserve final judgment on this until later in the process with each customer! |
